Honestly, I don't see these new TLD's taking off, except for a few niche uses. For serious stuff, .com will remain the de-facto standard, and the only domain that's really taken seriously. Even today, .net and .org are considered "weird" by a good percentage of people. To me, these new TLDs are just a ploy to get companies to have to register more domains to protect their brand identity.
